Is it really a vacation with a 2 year old in tow?

I am absolutely in love with Kiawah Island, SC. It's quiet, serene and completely picturesque. There are beaches and parks, trails and markets and right as you enter the island, the most quaint, adorable, little village with restaurants and shops. This place is totally up my ally!

To say we are having fun would be accurate. . .to say that we are relaxing would be a stretch. Is it really a vacation with a 2 year old in tow? Thank the good Lord that my mom and dad are here with us. That provided us the opportunity to go out on a date last night. We had about 3 hours totally to ourselves to venture out and enjoy a meal that didn't consist of spilled beverages or food all over the floor.

Dave and I keep reminding each other that this is just a season. It's an intense season full of whining, fussing, discipline and the occasional moment of peace where we can truly enjoy our sweet Hope. I don't know that I expected to rest on this vacation, ok maybe I hoped that I would. The time will come for us to have more relaxing vacations. For now I look at this as the opportunity for adventure with our toddler. Seeing her face light up as she discovered a horseshoe crab on the beach or the deer hiding in the woods is well worth it all.

Here are a few photos from our adventures so far. I'm sure I will look back on this trip with very fond memories as the reality of traveling with a toddler fades into the future.
